L’American Pet Products Association (APPA) e la Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) hanno ospitato la 20a edizione della Global Pet Expo dal 20 al 22 marzo 2024 a Orlando, in Florida. L’evento più importante dell’industria degli animali da compagnia ha registrato il tutto esaurito con oltre 1.100 aziende espositrici su una superficie espositiva di circa 105.000 metri quadrati netti.
L’affluenza totale ha raggiunto quasi 20.000 partecipanti, da oltre 85 Paesi, all’evento rinomato per offrire le ultime novità in fatto di prodotti per animali da compagnia, contatti commerciali e formazione di livello mondiale. La fiera, ospitata presso l’Orange County Convention Center, porta ogni anno milioni di dollari all’area metropolitana di Orlando, con Global Pet Expo 2024 che ha un impatto economico locale di oltre 45 milioni di dollari.
Global Pet Expo restituisce anche alla comunità locale degli animali da compagnia attraverso la sua partnership di lunga data con la Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando per raccogliere donazioni di prodotti dopo ogni evento. Quest’anno sono stati donati oltre 70 stand per contribuire alla missione della Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.

Nuove innovazioni nei prodotti per animali domestici
L’evento ha presentato migliaia di prodotti e innovazioni tra i più recenti per gli animali da compagnia in tutte le categorie di consumo di tendenza, dalla tecnologia intelligente alle soluzioni per il benessere in casa e ai prodotti sostenibili. La New Products Showcase ha esposto oltre 1.000 prodotti di 13 categorie, annunciando i vincitori del 14° Annual Award durante la premiazione del “Best in Show” di Global Pet Expo. VetChip, un’azienda di biotecnologie dedicata al miglioramento della salute e del benessere degli animali grazie a una tecnologia pionieristica che monitora, analizza e rileva i problemi di salute degli animali domestici, è stata selezionata come vincitrice del Purina Pet Care Innovation Grand Prize 2024. L’azienda era una delle cinque startup provenienti da tutti gli Stati Uniti, Canada e Australia che hanno presentato le loro attività a una giuria durante la Global Pet Expo, tra i quali c’era anche Peter Scott dell’APPA.
Miglioramenti all’esperienza in fiera
Global Pet Expo 2024 ha presentato nuove attivazioni per migliorare l’esperienza dei partecipanti. Gli ingressi alla fiera sono stati ridisegnati per creare un’esperienza sensoriale coinvolgente al momento dell’arrivo all’evento. La nuova Innovation in Motion Experience ha rivelato New Products Showcase, Spotlight Stage e Think Tank modernizzati. L’area espositiva è stata inoltre ampliata con nuove aree specializzate, tra le quali The Modern Pet, il Supplier Pavilion e la sezione Sostenibilità, in collaborazione con la Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC).
Nuovi dati sull’industria degli animali da compagnia
L’APPA ha annunciato gli ultimi dati relativi al possesso e alla spesa per gli animali domestici durante una conferenza stampa riservata ai media. Secondo il nuovo rapporto “State of the Industry” di APPA, la spesa totale dell’industria degli animali domestici negli Stati Uniti ha raggiunto i 147 miliardi di dollari nel 2023 e un contributo economico complessivo di 303 miliardi di dollari, con un aumento del 16% rispetto al 2022. Le spese sono state condivise in concomitanza con la prima pubblicazione dei nuovi rapporti trimestrali dell’associazione, lanciati quest’anno.
Formazione di livello mondiale
Global Learning Series ha offerto oltre 50 ore di formazione durante i quattro giorni di sessioni con un focus sui temi che influiscono sulle decisioni aziendali nel 2024. “Quest’anno la partecipazione alle sessioni del Global Learning Series ha sfiorato i 2.000 partecipanti”, ha dichiarato Celeste Powers, presidente PIDA. “L’entusiasmo durante le sessioni e in tutta la fiera era palpabile e l’intero team Global Pet Expo è stato ispirato nel vedere mesi di pianificazione trasformarsi in un evento fantastico per l’industria degli animali da compagnia”.
Partecipazione senza precedenti di media e influencer
Il coinvolgimento dei media e degli influencer in Global Pet Expo 2024 è stato da record, con quasi 300 membri dei media e degli influencer presenti alla fiera.
Quest’anno, Global Pet Expo sarà premiata da Trade Show Executive come una delle fiere in più in rapida crescita negli Stati Uniti per il 2023 in occasione del Trade Show Executive Fastest 50 Awards & Summit, dall’8 al 10 maggio 2024. La fiera è stata classificata tra le “Fastest 50 per Aziende Espositrici” e tra le “Next 50 per Presenze Totali e per Metri Quadrati Netti”.
La prossima edizione di Gobal Pet Expo si terrà tra il 26 e il 28 marzo 2025, sempre all’Orange County Convention Center di Orlando, Florida.

Global Pet Expo 2024, unprecedented success
The pet industry’s premier event showcased a sold-out show floor with over 1,100 exhibiting companies and with total attendance that reached nearly 20,000 attendees representing over 85 countries
The American Pet Products Association (APPA) and Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) hosted the 20th annual Global Pet Expo on March 20-22, 2024, in Orlando, Fla. The pet industry’s premier event showcased a sold-out show floor with over 1,100 exhibiting companies spanning 343,500 net square feet of exhibit space.
Total attendance reached nearly 20,000 attendees representing over 85 countries at the event known for delivering the latest in pet products, business connections and world-class education. The show, hosted at the Orange County Convention Center, brings in millions of dollars to the Orlando Metropolitan area each year, with Global Pet Expo 2024 delivering over $45 million in local economic impact. Global Pet Expo also gives back to the local pet community through its longstanding partnership with the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando to collect product donations after each event. This year, over 70 booths were donated to help serve the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando’s mission.

New pet product innovations
The event showcased thousands of the latest pet products and innovations across trending consumer categories, from smart technology to at-home wellness solutions and sustainable products. The New Products Showcase displayed over 1,000 products across 13 product categories, with the winners of the 14th Annual Awards announced during Global Pet Expo’s “Best in Show” Awards. VetChip, a biotechnology company dedicated to improving animal health and welfare through pioneering technology that monitors, analyzes and detects pet health issues, was selected as the grand prize winner of the 2024 Purina Pet Care Innovation Grand Prize. The company was one of five pet startups from across the U.S., Canada and Australia that pitched their businesses to a panel of judges during Global Pet Expo, including APPA’s Peter Scott.
Enhancements to the show experience
Global Pet Expo 2024 unveiled new activations at the event to elevate the attendee experience. Entrances to the show floor were redesigned to create an immersive sensory experience upon arriving at the event. The new Innovation in Motion Experience revealed a modernized New Products Showcase display, Spotlight Stage and Think Tank. The show floor also expanded to feature new specialty areas, including The Modern Pet, the Supplier Pavilion and the Sustainability section, in partnership with the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC).
New pet industry data
APPA announced the latest pet ownership and spending data during a media-exclusive press conference. According to APPA’s new State of the Industry report, the total U.S. pet industry expenditures reached $147 billion in 2023 and an overall economic contribution of $303 billion, a 16% increase from 2022. The expenditures were shared in conjunction with the first release of the association’s new quarterly reports launching this year.
World-class education
The Global Learning Series delivered over 50 hours of education across four days of sessions featuring topics shaping business decisions in 2024. “Participation in the Global Learning Series sessions neared 2,000 attendees this year,” said PIDA President Celeste Powers. “The excitement during the sessions and throughout the show floor was palpable, and the entire Global Pet Expo team was inspired seeing months of planning transform into a fantastic event for the pet industry.”
Unprecedented media and influencer attendance
Media and influencer engagement with Global Pet Expo 2024 was record-breaking, with nearly 300 members of the media and influencers attending the show.
This year, Global Pet Expo will be honored by Trade Show Executive as one of the top fastest-growing shows in the U.S. for 2023 at the Trade Show Executive Fastest 50 Awards & Summit, May 8-10, 2024. The show was ranked in the Fastest 50 By Exhibiting Companies and Next 50 By Total Attendance and By Net Square Feet.
Global Pet Expo 2025 will take place on March 26-28, 2025, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
